Tarte Shape Tape Concealer DUPE – Makeup Revolution Concealer

I don’t like to wear a full face of makeup everyday but the products that I reach out for on a daily basis are concealer, eyebrow pomade and something for my lips.

I’ve tried many concealers, drugstore and high-end and without a doubt my favourite has to be the Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer. It’s phenomenal! It’s full coverage, blendable, creamy and doesn’t crease so much. But of course it’s a bit more on the pricier side. It retails for £22/10ml but if you’re happy to splurge on a high end concealer then this is definitely worth investing in. It does not disappoint. The shade range is amazing too!

What about if you’re on a budget? Any drugstore alternatives? YES. The Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer is the PERFECT DUPE! No joke. The formula feels almost identical. This retails for £4/3.4ml. Now if you’ve seen all hype on youtube about this concealer, you may have come across videos comparing the prices of both. That’s absolutely bizarre. How can you compare two products which contain different quantities? The mathematician within me is cringing so bad. So the correct way to compare prices is per ml:

Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer is £2.20/ml

Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealer is £1.18/ml

So yes the Tarte concealer is more expensive, approximately double the price not 5 or 6 times more as some videos claim.

Which shades did I pick and where did I purchase them from?

I purchased mine from Superdrug online as they are all sold out in stores. I picked the shades C10 and C12 for concealing/highlighting and C13 for contouring. For reference I am the shade ‘Medium’ for the Tarte concealer and this is a perfect match for me!

Would I recommend these concealers?

YES, YES and YES! I highly recommend the Makeup Revolution concealer as an alternative as the formula is so similar, almost identical for half the price! It has that same full coverage, creamy texture and the applicator is pretty similar too. I’m obsessed! However although this is the perfect dupe there aren’t many shades available for the medium skin range. Some shades are questionable. I mix c10 and c12 to get my shade. I also purchased c13 for contouring and I love it!!! I don’t usually cream contour but I’m so happy with how these work for contouring, so blendable, I won’t be switching back to powder contour anytime soon!

So will I stop using Tarte shape tape?

I think for an everyday concealer I will now reach for the Makeup Revolution concealer as my daily makeup is very minimalistic and literally to cover blemishes and if the cheaper concealer does the trick, then why not?

Pretty good coverage right?

But for glam days I would most likely use the Tarte concealer due to the perfect colour match. I will definitely stock up on more of the makeup revolution concealers for concealing and especially contouring!

I hope you enjoyed this post because there is plenty more to come this week! 2018 is all about investing more time in myself and things I enjoy. Which of course includes my blog 🙂

Lots of love,

  1. ARGH I’m going to have to wait until it’s in stock in stores to try out my shade! There have been so many glowing reviews of this! X
