As I’ve hit 25 this year investing in a good eye cream is without a doubt a MUST! The skin around the eyes is more fragile, more prone to dryness, and quicker to show age and fatigue so prevention is key. After thorough research I thought I’d give the Mario Badescu Hyaluronic eye cream a go – purchased from Beauty Bay. Firstly the reviews were amazing, secondly it’s affordable – you get a lot of product (14g) which will last a really long time for an eye cream. I needed an eye cream which I can afford to repurchase- let’s be realistic here girls. The key ingredient Hyaluronic acid acts like a sponge holding moisture in the skin, effectively plumping out the skin and by doing so it can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
I’ve been using this eye cream for 2-3 weeks and it looks barely untouched. You get a lot of product and use a tiny amount on a daily basis considering it’s only around the eyes. The cream has definitely helped reduce puffiness and has also hydrated my under eyes. My under eyes feel very moisturised and plump. It is also the perfect cream to prep your under eyes before makeup application. If you’re a makeup artist, I highly recommend adding this gem to your kit. Your clients will love it!
My second Mario Badescu purchase was the drying lotion – £16 – also purchased from Beauty Bay. I’m sure you all must have heard all the rave about this drying lotion. My god, it’s actually amazing! Seriously. I was breaking out like crazy for god knows what reason. Literally after two applications of this my spots/breakouts had cleared up by at least 70%. The lotion is designed for troubled complexions and ‘to dry out surface blemishes and balance oil in the skin’ and it does exactly that. Be careful not to mix the solution (I’m guilty of this, oops!). It looks like it’s supposed to be mixed due to the pink sediment sitting at the bottom but DO NOT mix it. Just dip a cotton bud into the pink sediment and apply the solution on your blemished areas.
The key ingredient in this lotion is Salicylic acid, also known as beta hydroxy acid (BHA). Salicylic acid is a versatile ingredient that can attack skin’s many problems. It is able to break down the bond that binds dead cells together. If not broken down, this bond can cause clogged pores leading to blackheads and whiteheads. Salicylic acid has the ability to penetrate deep into the pore lining and is therefore able to give such a deep cleanse. After your first application you’ll experience some stinging and irritation but, it’s perfectly safe to use on sensitive skin and even has anti-inflammatory properties.
