The Power of Weekly Goals – Part 1

We all have goals no matter how big or small they are but are you actually working towards yours? Are you going to the gym like you planned? Or reading that book you’ve had sitting on your shelf forever? Or even eating clean like you promised yourself at the start of this year? Are you saving up? Working towards your business plans? Studying hard at school/college/uni? Up to date with revision? All these goals at once can be so overwhelming!

We sometimes tend to get so caught up in life that we forget to invest time and energy in our goals. But the good news is, it’s never too late! You don’t have to wait till January to set new yearly goals! Start now. Yes, now. Not Monday.

Now why is this blog post named Part 1? Because I hope to make this a series of blog posts about my own goals and share my thoughts and opinions with you guys. Maybe we can all help each other and learn and grow together 🙂 As much as I love the whole beauty, fashion and all that other stuff, I want my blog to be a place to connect like-minded people and help us inspire each other. I want to hear what your goals are too! Follow me on Instagram @atiya_choudhury and let me know 🙂 also let me know if you would like to read a part 2 of this blog series.

I’ve always been the type of person with a RIDICULOUSLY HUGE to-do list. My to-do list consisted of errands, work, hobbies etc, but very little to-do with my own personal well-being. My long to-do lists were very unrealistic and sometimes impossible to complete. So if I haven’t completed my tasks and hit my goals for the day, the day wouldn’t feel so great/productive. So recently I’ve started setting myself ‘WEEKLY GOALS/TASKS’.

The key is to set 3 Goals, maybe 2 or even 1, but not too many. Why 3 or less? So you can FULLY, COMPLETELY AND RELIGIOUSLY focus on them.

My goals for this week are:

  1. Pray all 5 prayers ON TIME – I’m muslim and we must pray 5 times a day. Recently my prayers have been a little messy due to the winter timing but I’m working on it 🙂 Praying is very important to me as I feel that it makes me mentally stronger as a person. Whenever things have gone wrong for me and I had no where to go or anyone to talk to, praying has definitely helped me through it. I’m very spiritual to the point that even when things go very wrong and I feel like I’ve hit rock bottom, I trust god’s plan so deeply that I can pull myself through it. Now your goal does not have to be praying, but definitely pick a goal that does something for your mind and soul.
  2. DRINK 2L+ OF WATER: I’m actually so annoyed with myself for being so on and off with this. On days where I’m on the go and super busy I completely forget. I feel so dehydrated at the end of the day and it definitely negatively impacts my skin. The best thing for your skin is actually free! It’s WATER.
  3. Gym + eating clean: I’m not on any crazy diets but this past week my diet has been AWFUL! I somehow end up eating junk or eating out. This is definitely due to not having a fixed meal plan/routine in my life. So when I’m hungry I eat anything 🙁 I’ve finally done my grocery shop for the week and it’s full of greens! 🙂 Can’t wait to indulge in some yummy and healthy food this week!

Now of course I have other major goals for the week such as working on my business, blog posts, work and so much more. But I’ve picked 3 to FULLY focus on this week and I will constantly switch them up on a weekly basis.

So what are your three goals for this week? Have a think and write them down. Go to the notes section in your phone and save them there. So what’s the logic behind weekly goals? As you will be working very hard everyday for 7 days to complete your weekly goals this will (with time) naturally become a habit and that’s the idea. Repeating a task everyday to the point that it becomes part of who you are.

We literally have 7 weeks till the end of this year. If you work towards 3 goals every week, you can achieve 21 new positive habits. If you work towards 2 goals every week, you can achieve 14 new positive habit and even if you work towards 1 goals every week, you can still achieve 7 new positive habits. WHICH IS STILL AMAZING!

Woah I have actually wrote quite a bit here! Believe it or not but I lack a lot of confidence when it comes to writing 🙁  Coming from a mathematical background means I’ve barely been writing for years! So sorry if I’m a little rusty!

Anyways Goodnight my loves! Good luck with your weekly goals! SMASH IT! and then REPEAT!

  1. Great post!

One thing I try to do is write daily goals in terms of what I want to do. If you write those goals down and accomplish them you will get close to your bigger goals. It’s those little victories that will lead you to conquer your bigger goals.

I try to add those daily things to do one my iPhone schedule at a specific time or my Outlook work calendar at work if it is work related so I don’t forget.

On a side note, I too need to improve praying 5 times a day ON TIME. But unfortunately, by the time I come home work from work due to shorter day light hours it’s already sunset and I have to make up for the prayers. But I could still improve in that regard.
