I would describe myself as one of those people who loves trying different cuisines but when I’m really hungry I don’t enjoy experimenting at all lol.
Today was one of those days where I wasn’t super hungry but slightly peckish so I was in the mood to try something new. Me and my friend thought ‘hmmm why not try Giraffe?’ It was the perfect setting tbh, I’m not sure about you guys, but I love eating at places with a busy ‘hustle bustle’ type of atmosphere. Giraffe is situated right in the centre of the food court of Grand Central (Birmingham City Centre), surrounded by a bunch of other cool restaurants. Hopefully I’ll blog about those too very soon 😉
So what did we order? Both my friend and me ordered from the lunch menu. I went for the Falafel, Feta & Roasted Red Pepper Quesadilla with guacamole, sour cream and tomato & pink onion salad with skin on fries. This tasted absolutely divine! Tbh as I’m asian I love my spicy food, so I just had to add some chilli sauce for that extra kick and it was delicious – £6.95 + £1.00 for skin on fries which were nothing special tbh.
My friend went for the spicy rice bowl with king prawns – Brown rice with sugar snaps, red peppers, crispy onions, chilli & soy sauce, topped with a fried egg. Ngl this tasted better than mine. It was rich in flavour and had the perfect texture – £6.95 + £3.00 for king prawns.
And for drinks, of course something lemon-y 🙂 cloudy lemonade with mint, so refreshing and satisfying.
I would definitely recommend this place and I think I would rate it…hmmmmm… 7/10 maybe? There isn’t a great variety if you’re vegetarian or eat only halal food like myself. But there are a few great veg and sea food options for sure 🙂
