Health First!

This year has been really tough for me in terms of my health, I’m constantly falling ill and feeling fatigue regardless of how much I sleep. Which is really frustrating when you’re trying to get so much done and your health just puts your mood off or just makes you feel exhausted for no reason. This post is just to reach out to those who probably feel the same way I do. As women it’s more likely for us to feel tired and drained due to the hormonal imbalance in our systems. So here are a few things that I have discovered about myself in the past year.

Firstly take the vitamins you need! In my case it’s Iron and Vitamin D. They are legit my best friend right now and a must for sure. Just after two days of taking them I was already feeling more alive and less fatigue. I purchased mine from Holland and Barrett. Link below:

Secondly make rest a priority! During my uni days, I could easily pull an all-nighter. Not anymore. Sleep is now a priority and luxury! I enjoy sleeping and really look forward to it. Stop wasting time going out so much. It’s really not necessary, seriously. Of course enjoy a social life, but if you have a lot of work on, just give it a miss! Sometimes a nice break at home really helps rejuvenate the mind and body than an evening out. Relax and take it easy on yourself. The last thing you want to do is sacrifice sleep or ‘me time’ to complete work tasks and personal errands.

If there’s a problem, fix it! For years and years I thought I always had a cold. Coincidentally it was everytime I would thoroughly clean my room. I would be sneezing throughout the whole night, then get a crazy headache too. It wasn’t actually a cold at all! It was a dust allergy. Due to this I missed so many days of work, felt horrible and actually thought I was ill.

I also find that going to the gym really helps physically and mentally. Lucky for me I have a gym at work and I usually tend to go before lunch. Working in the corporate world means sitting for hours at a desk, so a gym session in between is hella exciting! It really makes you feel better about yourself and makes lunch taste a lot more tasty for some reason lol. My work place are also providing free flu vaccinations this month and boy oh boy am I excited! I CONSTANTLY have a cold and cannot wait to get this flu jab, seriously! If you think you need one too and you don’t fall in the category for one, ask your local pharmacy. It’s better to get one than keep catching a cold.

Another problem I’ve had in the past year is with my eyes. After spending hours in front of the computer at work, your eyes are bound to suffer. I started getting watery eyes and residue in my eyes. No idea why! This would frustrate me so much to the point that I cut down on my eye make up. This will then cause redness in my eyes making me look really scary! The problem was my eyes would really dry out. Looking back, I had the same problem when I was completing my mathematics masters, which consisted of a lot of computing too. If you’re working in front of a computer all day, then you really need to invest in some eyedrops for drying eyes. Now every morning before work I ALWAYS apply my eyedrops. It’s a must!

I think it’s really important to investigate and look up your symptoms. Don’t let anything get in between you and your potential to excel. Always put your health first. Two energetic hours are better than 10 tiresome ones. My health has become so important to me over the past few years because I always have a lot going on and I love staying active and productive. I’d rather take a break because I want to and not because I’m feeling poorly and I have to.

I hope this post wasn’t too depressing! Love you all X
